Study Leave with Pay for Government School Teachers
The authorized topic areas for Study Leave With Pay for the 2025 academic year are being announced to eligible workers by the Ghana Education Service (GES). Online training for teachers
According to the GES Study Leave With Pay policy, service members must meet the
following requirements in order to be eligible for Study Leave With Pay.

Requirements for the Study
Leave With Pay
- Satisfactory service is the bare minimum required to be eligible for Study Leave With Pay. A Study Leave With Pay recipient will be bonded for the whole number of years they have worked at the institution plus an additional year.
- A GES employee who has worked for two (2) years in a designated underprivileged region may be entitled to apply for study leave with pay.
- Non-professional graduate teachers should have served for at least one (1) year before being eligible for any of the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) courses.
- Before being eligible for Study Leave With Pay, service personnel returning from secondment must serve for a minimum of two (2) years.
- Staff of the Service who vacate, leave the service, and are reappointed/re-engaged must serve a minimum of five (5) years before being eligible for Study Leave With Pay.
- A staff member who does not qualify for the grant of Study Leave With Pay in the first year cannot apply again in the second year of his/her studies. The staff must apply for study leave with pay to pursue the course.
- A Staff who is eligible for study leave with pay must have a minimum of two (2) years to serve after the course. For example, a staff member who is fifty-five (55) years or older cannot apply for Study Leave With Pay to pursue a course that lasts four (4) years or more. He/She can, however, apply to pursue courses that have a duration of between one (1) and two (2) years.
- A staff member shall be eligible for study leave with pay subject to the following:
a) Good conduct and performance
b) Recommendation by immediate
supervisor
How to Apply for Study Leave with Pay.
- Online teacher training
- Applicants should complete application forms (4 copies) and attach certified true copies of certificate(s).
- Applications should be submitted to the applicant’s regional director through the metro/municipal/district director/head of institution (2nd cycle).
- The Regional/District Directors should ensure that the list of all fully qualified beneficiaries reaches the Acting Director, Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD), GES Headquarters by Friday, 31st October, 2025.
