How to Calculate BECE Aggregate Score
Your top six subjects' grades are added up to determine your aggregate, which has to include:
·
English Language
·
Mathematics
·
Integrated
Science
· Social Studies
Next, sum up the grades for the two elective courses that performed the best.
BECE Aggregate & Raw Score Ranges for SHS Placement
Below is an explanation of the raw scores for SHS/TVET placement in 2025 and beyond, along with the likely aggregates that correspond to them.
Category A Schools – Top Tier
·
Aggregate Range:
6–10
·
Raw Score Range: 420–600
· Grade Pattern: Mostly 1s and 2s
Accordingly, you have a
very good probability of getting accepted into the Category A school of your
choice, such as Presec Legon or Achimota School, provided your total score
falls between 6 and 1. This might not always be the case, though. Should your
raw score be insufficient, you can lose the opportunity if there are more
students who are eligible for placement than there is room for.
SHS/TVET Placement Raw Scores and Aggregates for Category B Schools
Category B Schools – Competitive Tier
·
Aggregate Range:
11–20
·
Raw Score Range: 360–419
· Grade Pattern: 2s, 3s, and few 4s
Students who scored
between 11 and 20 on the aggregate may also be assigned to Category B schools.
These pupils will frequently be selected for category B schools and miss their
initial choice of CcategoryA institutions. This requires a raw score that falls
between 360 and 419. Depending on the program they select, these pupils might
easily be placed in a category A school. For example, a kid with this grade who
chooses to study home economics, visual arts, or general arts can be placed in
ga gradeA school with ease.
Category C Schools – Average Tier
·
Aggregate Range:
21–30
·
Raw Score Range: 300–359
· Grade Pattern: Mostly 3s, 4s, and 5s
Although the majority of
students with these grades can be sent to Category B schools, they will be put
in Category C schools if the competition is tight. The aggregate raw scores of
those who receive the aggregate range yet end up in category B schools are
frequently kept.
2025 SHS/TVET Placement Raw Scores for Category D Schools
Category D Schools – Lower Tier
·
Aggregate Range:
31+
·
Raw Score Range:
Below 300
·
Grade Pattern: 5s
to 9s
Errors in BECE Aggregate Calculation
·
Including every
subject rather than just the top six.
·
Ignoring the fact
that social studies, science, math, and English are always recorded.
·
Assuming that
placement is determined only by raw score; aggregate and school preference also
matter.
